Pascal Smelik creates an image for himself; that what we want to see from ourselves (distorted mirror) is not the core (glass tube) of who we really are.
This clouded and distorted image of how we see ourselves is melted with the core of who we actually are into a complete circle.

D i s t o r t i o n o f S e l f is a wall mounted light sculpture in which a small hand bended light tube (2.4mm) is reflected to become one with its distorted counterpart
Due to sensor the light intensity of the circle is automatically adjusted by reacting on its environmental light
The glass is placed in a 3mm thick acrylic glass, which has a silver film adhesive on the back, which creates the distorted part of the circle
The whole piece including the electronics is placed in a contrasting wooden frame
